Sweetwater RV Resort in Zephyrhills held their first Charity Auction to benefit Everyday Blessings, Inc. in Thonotosassa. Jim Holman (who came up with the Auction idea during a Sweetwater Christian Fellowship Service in January) put together a planning group to not only put the 1st time auction into place but to go into the community and tag team businesses for their support by donating items, gift cards, services, etc. for the auction, while spreading the word about the child caring agency and their needs. Sweetwater residents came together and put together their own personal gift baskets, baked breads, pies and cookies to sell at the auction. One resident’s apple pie went for a remarkable $18.00. Amazing!
Over 200 Sweetwater residents and various other locals attended this event on Wednesday, February 19, in the Resort’s Clubhouse. Over 333 items were donated, and on Feb. 19, Professional Auctioneer William E. Barron (who donated his services) got to work with what he does best by working the crowd and getting the highest dollar for each item. The auction brought in $5,789.00 which means close to two of the seven children’s rooms at Everyday Blessings will be getting a total makeover, new furniture, freshly painted walls, new flooring, window treatments, updated bathroom fixtures, plus so much more.
Thank you Jim Holman, Neil Peck, and the Action Volunteer Group for an amazing charity event. We look forward to doing it again next year (hint hint).
