4th Annual 5K Success!

4th Annual 5K Success!

The weather was great, the sand was soft, and the people came to the 4th Annual Everyday Blessings 5k and Kids Fun Run last Saturday on Siesta Key Beach. 85+ runners & walkers came out to show their support to our agency and it’s mission to care for the neglected, abused and abandoned children 24/7, 365 days of the year.

The little ones took off running at 8am sharp, full of energy only to return to the finish line red in the face and gasping for air, heading straight to the cooler for cold water. One young lady actually dropped to the ground in exhaustion. (Oh the drama of it all!) One mile is a lot further than it sounds. Great job Guys!

Next, the participants of the 5k were lined up and ready at the Start Line at 9am. Beach walkers stopped to see what all the excitement was about and waited around to cheer everyone off.

Winners of the race were as follows: Overall Female: Felicia Wade (26:51), Overall Male: Seth Pierce (19:42). In the Female 0-12 yr age group: 1st Place: Analise Miller (38:38), 2nd Place: Jessica Thompson (38:38). No Males in this age group. In the Female 13-19 yr age group: 1st Place: Caroline Fetty (29:41). No 2nd Place Winner. No Males in this age group. In the Female 20-29 age group: 1st Place: Toni Geffery (27:32). 2nd Place: Kayla Miller (32:13). 1st Place Male: Joseph Mueller (20:57). 2nd Place: Alex Card (22:14). In the Female 40-49 age group: 1st Place: Linda Mueller (29:05). 2nd Place: Sharon Smyth (40:13). No Males in this age group. In the Female 50-59 age group: 1st Place: Patricia Florey (29:46). 2nd Place: Carla McLaughlin (39:38). 1st Place Male: Peter Florey (22:24). 2nd Place Male: Ed Pantera (26:53). In the Female 60-69 age group: 1st Place: Carrie Seidnin (36:24). 2nd Place: Delores Kreutzjans (58:24). 1st Place Male: Dan Najjar (30:43). No 2nd Place Winner. A correction is due from the day of the event: 2nd Place Female in the 60-69 age group is Anna Deferrari (47.24). This would move Delores Kreutzjans to 3rd Place in that age group. We apologize for this error.

We want to thank our sponsors for their support (some of them, their yearly ongoing support): Elite Roofing Services, Sunset Chevrolet Buick GMC, Unlimited Fill, Inc, Wendy Cox Law/DAF, Joe-Lin Lampshades & Lamp Repair, Universal North America, Michael Saunders & Company, MaxHealth, Leslie Loftus, & New Balance along with Another Broken Egg Cafe, who served delicious freshly baked mini muffins & water to the participants of the 5k. Another thank you goes out to the local businesses that support EBI by donating raffle & prize items.

And last but not least, thank you to all the volunteers that helped make this day a great success. We couldn’t do this event without you. See you next year! Remember to wear your ribbons for a week and bring five people with you in 2016. Here’s to our Kids!
